The National Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) conducted its Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) for the second quarter of 2022 last June 9.
The event, which the NDRRMC and Office of the Civil Defense (OCD) conducted online, aimed to magnify disaster awareness and preparedness in the Philippines.
NDRRMC chairperson, Sec. Delfin N. Lorenzana said, “We have been conducting online drills considering the pandemic to continue to instill proactiveness in our people and promote preparedness in all communities.”
The drill also sought to increase the participation of the general public in promoting individual and family earthquake alertness toward community resilience.
The NDRRMC urged the public to perform duck-cover-and-hold and participate in the virtual earthquake drill, which promoted preparedness in the workplace, school, or homes.
The ceremonial pressing of the alarm button for Second Quarter NSED started at 9:00 a.m. and is available in a live stream via the Facebook pages and Youtube channels of the NDRRMC and the OCD.
